We've Come A Long Way As A People and A Nation

Although Martin Luther King, Jr's birthday has passed, as we celebrate the second inauguration of our nation's first African American President, we also honor Martin Luther King, Jr. for leading the struggle that paved the way for this to be possible.

President Barack Obama has achieved accomplishments against all odds and I'm proud of him.  I also applaud what he and First Lady Michelle had done for our war veterans, and the initiation of healthy meals/exercise programs for school children.  Job opportunities are also looking up.

Martin Luther King, Jr. said, "A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual doom."

I pray our President continues to uplift social consciousness, and may God bless him with a successful term in letting freedom ring for all.
